How to Make the Best Seared Ahi Tuna Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 ahi tuna steaks about 6 oz each
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds optional

Instructions

  • Pat the ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel.
  • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, garlic, and black pepper.
  • Marinate the tuna steaks in the mixture for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat.
  • Sear the tuna for about 1 minute per side (or until the edges are golden but the center remains rare).
  • Remove from heat, slice thinly, and garnish with sesame seeds.
  • Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, or a side of your choice.

Notes

For the best results, use sushi-grade tuna and avoid overcooking. The inside should be pink and tender.
