Homemade Vanilla Paste Recipe

This Homemade Vanilla Paste is a rich, flavorful alternative to vanilla extract, perfect for baking and desserts. It has a thicker consistency and intense vanilla taste, making it ideal for cakes, cookies, and frostings.

Ingredients

  • 6 vanilla beans
  • ½ cup light corn syrup or honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cornstarch optional, for thickness

Instructions

  • Slice vanilla beans lengthwise and scrape out the seeds
  • In a saucepan, mix water, corn syrup, and vanilla seeds
  • Add the vanilla bean pods and bring to a gentle simmer over low heat
  • Stir occasionally and let the mixture reduce slightly for about 10 minutes
  • If using cornstarch, mix with a tablespoon of water and stir into the mixture to thicken
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and let cool
  • Strain out the vanilla bean pods (optional) and transfer to an airtight jar
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months

Notes

• Maple syrup or honey can replace corn syrup for a natural version
• The paste thickens as it cools, making it easier to use in baking
• One tablespoon of vanilla paste equals one vanilla bean
