Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought or homemade angel food cake cut into cubes
  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 container 8 oz whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • 1 can 21 oz cherry pie filling
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth
  • Fold in the whipped topping and vanilla extract until fully combined
  • In a 9x13-inch dish or trifle bowl, spread half of the angel food cake cubes evenly at the bottom
  • Spoon half of the cream cheese mixture over the cake layer and spread evenly
  • Add half of the cherry pie filling on top
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cream cheese mixture, and cherry pie filling
  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving for the best texture

Notes

  • For extra crunch, sprinkle crushed graham crackers or chopped nuts between the layers
  • Use fresh cherries with a homemade cherry compote for a less sweet version
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days
